haiku from Hearst castle

Petal on petals
Blossoming serenity
A Contemplation

In the midst of marble and metal
I float gently on leaves and petal,
Silver and white might have might
Pink and green in serene delight.

Castles rise to royal template
Stretching spires, high from the ground.
I bloom to help contemplate
And blossom ideas profound.

welcoming 2025

A new day dawns,

As renewed sunshine no.

Here ends the year of Twenty and four,

Its 2025 now, to the fore.

An year of vice voices and votes,

Of rising prices, and of currency notes.

When inflation deflated many an incumbent,

Demagoguery remained ascendent.

Facts and fictions

Now coexist in fractions

Friction gains traction

When we pick our faction.

An year with wars all around,

As hopes for world peace run aground.

We all gazed to witness Gaza razed,

Is motherland dazed, is Ukraine unfazed?

What will the future bring

For whom will the bell ring!

Will we have the strength to condone,

Will we stand united or fall alone!

It was an year of loss and lament,

For silent statesmen, and humble chairmen

Arts' stalwarts and society's stars,

The owners of woh Taj, and Wah Taj!

Will this be the year of AI?

Are we doomed between Aye-Aye and bye-bye?

As it vacillates between elucidate or hallucinate,

Exacerbate or eXterminate!

There is still but hope,

The optimists' eternal trope

For a fresh bloom

Amidst all the gloom.

A new sun is upon us,

May he shine bright

It's the end of the tunnel,

And we see the light.

May we find a fresh resolve

Let our despair dissolve.

Amidst talk of boom and doom

Weave our dreams on hope's loom.

May this year ignite a spark

Dispel the fear of a night dark

May we find roads less traveled

And discover passions unrivaled, unraveled.

May we find common dreams to unite us

May we forge bonds that untie us

May we find unique words to define us

May we break the cages that confine us.

May the start of the new year

Bring a new music to our ear

An wiser mind, and a younger heart

Let's welcome a new start.

Happy 2025!

Aryan and Meena - rhymes with Nanna

We are going on a drive,

For miles twenty five,

Listening to radio live

into 680 South, we dive!

We stop at red light!

The day is bright.

Meena wants to bite,

Nanna says dont fight!

We traveled too far,

In our mazda car,

We're stuck in a jam,

that's not in a jar.

Welcoming 2022

It's a day of joy and cheer,

The backend bookend for the year.

When Santa comes in his sleigh with deer

The future adorns a hopeful veneer.

The past fades, in a snap,

    those fleeting, ephemeral stories.

Do they empower or do they sap?

those fading humors, horrors and furies.

A new Sun hides, just beyond the veil

with new stakes for every head and tail.

What will you take a chance on?

To feel, to seal or to heal!

    So lets mask our fears,

    and mend our tears.

    Store away our rage,

    and restore our courage.

    Lets bring out the fireworks

    and mark our runups.

    Wax poetic on our dreams

    while we bury viral rivalries.

Lets engage with another year

A New Year, with a kind ear

with a diverse vision

not endless division.

Lets start something truly new

And welcome 2022!

Welcoming 2020

As the welcoming screams, whistles, fireworks for a new year (and a new decade, no less) surround our serene apartment in my home from multiple sets of rowdy youngsters, enthusiastic party animals and high spirited spiritualists, I wake myself up from my own metaphorical stupor.  I'm awake, but lost in thoughts.  I forget where I was or what I was doing at the start of the last decade, but I try to remember the things and people lost and found over the last year.  My last month has been at home (though I reside elsewhere), with family, travel, food and shopping taking up all the time.  I found myself realizing that I hardly had time to reflect and react to a year gone by, a year that vanished like the mist on a bright winter day, like the smoke from the agarbathis - I felt its fragrance and its smell, but I couldn't hold on to it.  And now the year past is nothing more than a polaroid picture in reverse - a fast fading picture of jumbled memories.

I have lamented multiple times, to same and different people, that the times are moving too fast.  I am no Einstein, but as things move faster, time should slow down.  But these days, life is moving fast, and so does time.  May be I have stopped perceiving time, stopped to stoop and smell the flowers, stopped to marvel at the life around, stopped to revel in nothingness, stopped to ... stop.  I miss writing, I miss inspirations, I have become a passive observer of things, and letting life flow through me, rather than taking life for a ride.  So, I will try make amends.  I will try making resolutions, and try keeping them. And you keep me honest.

My Resolutions:

1.  Take time to update the blog - atleast once every 2 weeks (may be every pay day).
2.  Connect and Reconnect with friends and extended family.
3.  Play tennis atleast once a week - anywhere.
4.  Go to gym for 30 minutes atleast twice a week.
5.  Learn something new every couple of months [even simple things].
6.  Start volunteering.

So, here's to stopping to smell the roses, writing a blog on it, telling my cousins about it, and my new tennis / gym partners, may be learn to grow a rose tree and teaching that to school kids.

BIG GOALS.... Baby steps. Wish me luck.

Sonrise

You are our every sunrise
You are our every sunset
You are our every triumph
Of our every drop of blood, tears and sweat.

You are our every moment
Our very fiber and filament
You are the glowing light
At the end of our every tunnel

You are the winner
Of our every debate
You are the karma
Of our eternal fate.

You are the twinkle in our eyes
The dimple beside our smiles
You are the joy of our dreams
You are the boy of our dreams.

Watching you grow
Is to see our future unfold
Is to see our life unwrap
Is to see our dreams unravel.
And we just can’t wait
For every first and second of it.

Jab we met

That day we met,
I was Newton
I discovered gravity
With my heart falling.

We got engaged,
Pauli's inclusion principle
We were two charged particles
Cohabiting, with different spins

We got married...
I was a Bohr,
But you were a Curie
And together we combined
Two half-life s full of radio activity.

And now, we are traveling
Through space and time

Observing ripples and gravitational waves
Created by our beta particle
Our own God particle
Who gives our whole space time
A whole new mass
A whole new meaning.

Glass and the Mist

Looking at the glass of water I wondered if it was half empty or half full And then looking at the reflection in mirror I wondered if I was a half wit or a half fool! I asked the glass “What do you think! Do you wish you were filled up to the brink? Do you wait for the water to go down the sink? Or hope to be held to the lips for a drink?” I didn't know if the glass looked at me and smiled Or if it looked at me and sighed! But I thought I heard it say “What a weird question for the day. Neither am I half empty, nor half full I hold a lot of things, but there's never a lull Whether I hold water at the bottom or upto the brim I also hold the air, the sunshine and the shrink's dream! I stand on the table, able and tranquil, Holding on to my share of the fill Waiting patiently for water, air and sunshine Or for the thirsty lips thine”. At that moment, I looked at the mirror The “mist” around me, seemed to disappear Life isn't half empty or half full. Its about finding peace in our share of fill.

about inception

A dream beckons
in the night
Of possibilities
and what might.

A future bright
lies beyond the gate
Attempting to tempt
a tempting fate.

All realities that bind
you and me
In a way that
I do not want to see

A bind that unties us
Is the bind that unites us.
Bound by realities
Freed by possibilities
When hopes are rarities
Take refuge in dream cities

For Siya and Riya

You arrive as twin breaths of fresh air,
Painting new colors in our lives and lair!
You force us to stop and marvel
As your lives and our love for you unravel.

The wait of our life in our palms
The weight of your life in our arms
Our shoulders will forever be your chariots
You make us prouder than Nobel laureates

Every moment with you priceless
Every moment of you, may God bless
Time and space cease to exist
Every time you smile in jest.

Suddenly, life has taken a new meaning
As we welcome this new beginning
These moments will not just be memory trails
These will tell our life's tales.

Me

Who am I?
A face with a nose, a mouth, and an eye?
A smile, a tear, and a sigh?
Born to live and live to die?
What exactly, am I?

A physical entity, a mental essence,
A biological activity, and a spiritual presence!
Travelling a journey, which is continuous,
Playing a part , on the worldly dais!
No sir, I don’t know my dialogues.

What is it that identifies me?
What is it that defines me?
How does the world envisage me?
Where is it that I can discover me?
Who is it that I should be ?

Identified by attitude,
Defined by character,
Envisaged as a rational,
Discovered in the thoughts,
All I need, to be human?

Is life just about being human?
Is it not the quest, a desire
To be unique, to be different,
For others to see and emulate!
And write our own fate….?

Isn’t it the root of ambition?
Isn’t it the soul’s mission,
To make a mark upon the world,
To create a different mould,
Bearing your mark of perfection.

But then , when I embark,
On this journey in the dark,
I grope for lights,
In the stormy nights,
Searching for the path.

Yes, I find the lights,
From people who had fights,
Along some paths, to reach their goals,
From people who like me, are still
Journeying, carried by their will.

I stick to those lights,
I stick to those paths,
I stick to those hands,
I stick to those wills,
But , sadly , not the same goals.
And now, I find my ghosts gone,
With the wind, in the night all alone,
And now, I ‘m lost in the well,
Of those paths, the lights are the wall,
I feel I’ve lost my soul.

I can hear it’s shriek,
I can hear it yell,
And now, I experience the hell,
No, no, I don’t want others paths,
I don’t want those others lights.

I want freedom, independence,
Of thought, action, and attitude,
You can’t dictate it to me,
You can’t impose it on me.,
I want to get out of this well.

For no known ambition
Has been achieved by submission,
Aided by the strength to stand,
Up for one self, aided by the
Courage to find your own path,
Aided by the faith in the sight,
That can itself be the light,
In the darkness, of any night.
And then my friend, no wall
Can stand the wrath of will,
No more will the paths be cold and shrill,
For you’ll have showed the path to millions,
To follow, to try and search for one’s path
Oneself, without the light, but with the fight,
And then, I guess, you’ll answer ” What am I?”

Love

I look at my self in the mirror,
Am astonished, is that an error,
That I find you in there,
And not just there, but every where.

I don’t remember the first time I met you,
May be it was back a months few,
But so many fond memories in queue,
And each one, afresh and new.

Unknown we met as strangers,
When I was a lone ranger,
From strangers to friends,
The road took turns and bends.

And suddenly one day,
At a time you were away,
I found I was lost ,
In a beautiful host.

I was happy till that day,
I was contented till that day,
You had created a void,
That was impossible to avoid.

From then, on there would be a hush,
On seeing you there would be a blush,
In the depths of the heart, there a rush,
And I thought it was just a crush.

But do people spend sleepless nights,
Get entangled in the dreary fights,
Between the heart and the mind,
Both of which are truly blind.

Does the sky appear bluer,
Does the grass appear greener,
Does the world appear cleaner,
But just you appear meaner?

And why do I look forward for one moment,
Pray gods, that I may be lent,
To me you may be sent,
And pray you never went.

Why is it that I try to extend
Every little moment, to a never – end,
Just to feel you by my side,
Let my soul go on a ride.

Was this desperation?
Or was it an obsession,
To obtain your possession?
You call it infatuation?

And then, my infatuation ended,
No, my feelings weren’t dead,
You had invaded my thoughts,
And there was rain in the droughts.

I began thinking of you,
More often than you,
And the moment I knew
I wasn’t, again I was thinking of you.

And then I began to question,
Is this a confrontation?
Should I make a confession?
Express my impression?

You had changed me totally,
You had matured me mentally,
And I discovered a feeling,
An emotion, that made me sing.

I wanted to tell you
That I had loved you,
Truly, deeply, madly,
And the adjectives ‘ medley.

But was this necessary?
I mean, telling it in a hurry?
The beauty of the feeling lost,
In explaining its cost?

For no one can gauge its height,
Its depth, breadth or weight,
And expressing it will just prejudice,
A more beautiful, sacred piece.

You are first my friend,
So, can you gauge it,
Without my telling it?
Can you travel down my heart,
And see how changed I am?
Can you see how much more,
I love my self, once I loved you?
Can you read from the silence of my lips,
And from the noise of my eyes,
Can you decipher the code,
Printed deep in my heart?
Can you free my entangled mind,
Before I ever ask for it?
Can you see how strong I am
With you beside me?
In thoughts and in reality,
Both of which are twins to me?
Can you, just for my sake,
Promise me a thing or two?
That you will never erase or fake,
My memory from your mind?
I dunno if love is a boon or a bane?
I dunno if I am sane or insane?
But I pray God, that you
Shouldn’t fall in love,
But if you do, you might as well express it.
For I can’t see you suffer as I did,
FOR LOVE IS A LOVELY SUFFERING, ISN’T IT?
