Glass and the Mist
Looking at the glass of water
I wondered if it was half empty or half full
And then looking at the reflection in mirror
I wondered if I was a half wit or a half fool!
I asked the glass “What do you think!
Do you wish you were filled up to the brink?
Do you wait for the water to go down the sink?
Or hope to be held to the lips for a drink?”
I didn't know if the glass looked at me and smiled
Or if it looked at me and sighed!
But I thought I heard it say
“What a weird question for the day.
Neither am I half empty, nor half full
I hold a lot of things, but there's never a lull
Whether I hold water at the bottom or upto the brim
I also hold the air, the sunshine and the shrink's dream!
I stand on the table, able and tranquil,
Holding on to my share of the fill
Waiting patiently for water, air and sunshine
Or for the thirsty lips thine”.
At that moment, I looked at the mirror
The “mist” around me, seemed to disappear
Life isn't half empty or half full.
Its about finding peace in our share of fill.
